Zoo Day

We decided a couple of weeks ago we'd try and hit a zoo day since the girls hadn't gone for awhile and since Dominic had an appointment just a couple of miles away from there that today would be a great day to do so. It also helps that it's a discount day at the zoo and admission was only $4 per person (Dominic was free).

It started out pretty chilly when we left home but by the time we'd gotten to the appointment and then over to the zoo things had started warming up a bit.

We were lucky enough that the birds were out being shown while we were there and we got an up close and personal visit with some of them.

and decided to monkey around on their own instead.

We caught a couple of guys we hadn't seen in a long time...

And Dominic..Well Dominic spent his first ever visit to the zoo, pretty much like this...

We couldn't even get him to wake up. LOL. Slept through the whole darn thing. I guess there's always next time. I love it when they finally get old enough to really get curious and excited about seeing things! We'll have to go once he's hit that age. Hopefully he'll enjoy it as much as the girls did.

day out..

Since I've now had 3 horrid nights with the baby, I decided we'd better get out of the house today or I'd be known as "Mommy Cranky Pants"! Before heading out, while I was trying to get some things done, Arianna and Kaitlyn had their own idea's...

And made hats out of styrofoam bowls, yarn and fake flowers. It's amazing what they come up with when left to their own devices for a little while.
We headed out via a fast stop at Walmart and then on to the nature park. The girls had fun walking around and since Kaitlyn was playing "camera girl" we have a few interesting if somewhat blurry pictures.

(Arianna in a weird twist of roles today was "purple girl" instead of Kaitlyn. Not sure what happened there!) We discovered tall tree's...

and baby brother was suitably impressed...

Afterwards it was on to another park we hadn't been to and now the girls are begging to go back with shorts and swimsuits to play in the water..

It's actually pretty shallow and lots of natural (or manmade) rock dams to make little area's that don't have much if any current.

There is also some grills, picnic tables, etc. so they are wanting to do a "end of summer" BBQ there this year.
Afterwards it was home and Dominic got to try out his new toy...

Which is where he is currently sleeping away...
