Newport, Oregon Field Trip

We surprised the girls with a trip to Newport Oregon and a visit to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Lots of things to explore, touch, and see. The girls enjoyed spending time in the tide pool section getting to touch several of the small animals they may see when we hit low tide on our visits to the coast.

After a few hours spent at the aquarium, we traveled to the Lighthouse and had a wonderful visit with the volunteers running it that day. They even gave the girls little gifts as thanks for the hugs they received. They got to see the old style kitchen's, bedrooms, and learn why we have lighthouses..

Then it was over to the waterfront shops where they got to see and learn about some local "stars"...
A little later it was on to the Devil's Punchbowl

While there we were lucky enough to catch a nice fellow who was REALLY camera shy, but we got a tiny bit of him anyway...
while it might look funny, and resembles a rock, it's actually a whale we watched for awhile. He or she didn't spend much time at the surface and it was pretty sporadic trying to find where he might go next. We do plan on coming back during whale watch season though!
