playdates, penpals, and more....

We are setting up a few playdates with some other homeschoolers in the area and exploring a few parks that are new to us even though we've been here a while now. We're also planning a short outing to a park we've been to before but not in a long long time. The girls don't know where so it'll be a surprise ;)

The girls have also expressed an interest in getting some penpals from other states and/or other countries. So we've joined a penpal group  I figure it's a great opportunity to learn about life in other area's and helps them practice their writing and penmanship skills. We also are doing postcard exchanges and have a lot to get out this week! We've had 9 different kids interested in penpaling with the girls I've split them up so each kiddo has their "own" penpals. We've also got 18 postcards picked up and getting ready to mail this week.

We are finally getting between 5 and 7 eggs a day so the girls are now carrying out their little egg basket to collect eggs.  We have one blue tinted egg and a light olive egg among the different light browns, peach tinted and cream colored eggs.

The girls also got to try Thai lettuce wraps for dinner this weekend, and because we weren't sure they'd actually eat it, we had french fries at war as well. Arianna likes the lettuce wraps while Kaitlyn has decided that the filling is good but "I don't eat green".

Today the girls went to the beach. Dominic got his first taste of the coast...and slept through a bit of it. The girls however had a great time. We even took the Beast "off road"...

There are times like this when a 4 wheel drive is NICE! and since we take so much...
it's kind of a necessity.

The girls had a great time climbing on the rocks...
You know, the ones they were told NOT to climb...

they even took a small break with baby brother...

Who finally, finally decided to wake up for part of a trip...
and actually seemed to enjoy it.

Kaitlyn discovered crab shells and this guy thought he might get a free lunch...
Daddy tried to fly a kite...
but there just wasn't ANY wind at all. The only one he could have flown (an ultra light) he'd left at home because who ever heard of it NOT being windy at the coast...
all in all a nice day out of the house and since it was nice to be able to pull right up on the beach and not have to lug everything to where ever we wanted to be, we will be back!
