Science day!

Today we had science day with some of the homeschooling kids (and a couple of the public school kids as well). Yesterday we started putting together the volcano...
First we got the base put together..
added in the string to form the cone...
 added in the plaster strips.
and final step this morning was to paint it up! The kids thought it looked pretty good!
For the fun stuff today we did...

geysers and tried the rocket a few times as well. Than we blew up balloons by mixing a solid (baking soda) with a liquid (vinegar) and using the resulting gas to blow up the balloons. We also did an experiment on ice and different ways to melt and length of time and everyone did pretty good in guessing which ones would go next (we used hot water, cold water, cold salt water, and no water). We did a fun exercise in pretending we were the ice cube but that ones a little hard to describe. LOL. We all had lots of fun and made a huge mess in the process. Isn't that always a sign of a good fun day!
