Zoo class and more...

We had a field trip to the zoo this week with the homeschool group which also included a zoo class. The day was overcast, a little foggy, and a bit chilly but thankfully was DRY! We picked up some friends and headed out to the zoo early to meet up with everyone so I could hand out the tickets and remind everyone of the meet up times for lunch and the class.  Then it was out to explore the zoo.
We stopped by the bears first and saw this guy hanging out...
We figured he might actually be liking the weather since it was nice and cold! While I'm pretty sure this one thought a bit warmer temps would be nice!
Even the cats were trying to stay a bit warm...
The Giraffe's seemed just fine...
The girls were excited to see...
FLAMINGO'S!! the first time they've seen them. A little further and we came along this guy...
After checking out some of the animals it was time for lunch and Dominic got some one on one daddy time..
After lunch it was time for the zoo class...Our first creature was the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach..

Then on to a bigger and funner creature, The common Boa...

Which the kids got to pet!

and then we met a South American prehensile-tailed porcupine! Who is awfully darn cute!!

The kids had a great time and can't wait until another zoo trip/class in mid to late spring and maybe even a third one at the beginning of summer!
The next day we had 4H and I had to run out to the store in the morning. I told the girls to get dressed and get ready while I was gone. I came home to a woodland fairy princess and Kaitlyn...

I let Ari wear her little outfit all day and she had a ball! The folks at the grocery store later in the day thought she was pretty cool as well! She says she likes her new "style". Then just because everyone else was getting their picture taken Dominic wanted in on the action...
So far it's been a fun week! Today we have some chores and school to do and then tomorrow is music lessons and a favorite friend of big brother arrives for a month long stay! The girls are so excited he'll be here tomorrow they've been counting the days!
