Playing with Apps...

With the trip looming ever closer, it's time to make sure we have things that will keep everyone happy. We've down loaded a lot of free books from Amazon over the last couple of months, but we wanted to make sure we had other stuff to keep little (and big) hands busy during the flight and any "down time" during the trip.

We've used the Teach Me Kindergarten and First grade apps, so It was time to download the 2nd and 3rd grade apps as well. The kids love those apps! and at 1.99 I like the price. We also downloaded a few of the "free" sample apps that give you a chance to check out the apps before you actually purchase the "upgraded" version. We started playing around with Splash Math and first step safari math apps for the ipad mini.  The girls like them both. They are a little different in how they approach math at least for the little bit we did. The girls get to play with them for another day or so before having to decide which one they actually like better.

I did find a reading/comprehension application and thought it was okay, but there were a few things we didn't like about it. So It's off to find something a bit better. They do have spell city and Khan academy downloaded and/or updated. A few printouts will be added this week as well for science and language arts. So they should have plenty to do between the books (the "real" kind), the downloaded stuff, the apps and some color/activity stuff as well. It would be nice if they actually slept some of the way, but going by past experience I'm not going to hold my breath on that one. Hopefully at least the baby will get some sleep!

Shopping is pretty much done now for the trip, and just some last minute things to pack. Looking forward to the trip!
